San Carlos Sewer Rehabilitation Projects 17A and 17B

This project included the rehabilitation of 7,100 linear feet of sanitary sewer and appurtenances in various locations throughout the city. Existing 6-inch and 8-inch vitrified clay pipe (VCP) lines were replaced with 6-inch and 8-inch polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes utilizing both open cut and pipe bursting methods.

Challenges included narrow and steep roadways, construction within existing easements, navigating construction among existing utility corridors along busy main roadways, and significant traffic control measures to minimize customer disruptions. This project required significant public outreach and Tanner Pacific, Inc. staff were in daily communication with the residents and worked with the City’s Public Information office to provide weekly updates about the construction activities and schedule.
