One client approached us with a leaking pipeline in a sensitive wetland habitat. The challenge was to continue the flow through the pipe with minimal disturbance to the wetland habitat. We facilitated many round table discussions with a team of qualified professionals with experience in large civil/marine projects to develop a creative solution. A cofferdam was built over the leaking pipe one sheet at a time, extending into the wetlands with the least amount of disruption to the ecosystem. As the cofferdam was built outward, over the pipe, it became a bridge, allowing for the leaking pipe to be removed. The cofferdam contained the flow and acted as a temporary pipe while the new pipe was placed. Divers connected both ends and the new pipe was backfilled. One sheet pile at a time, the cofferdam was removed from the wetlands and the bridge behind them became the way out.
