pump station and Headworks improvements

The Union Sanitary District operates three regional sewage pump stations: Alvarado (AIPS), Newark, and Irvington, which convey all wastewater collected from their respective sanitary sewer drainage basins to the Headworks of the Alvarado Wastewater Treatment Plant. The AIPS is located within the Plant and transports wastewater from the Alvarado drainage basin to the Headworks through a force main that is separate from the other two pump stations. This project includes improvements to the AIPS and Headworks facility. The AIPS component consists of the replacement of five wastewater pumps and VFDs, valves, piping and actuators, main switchgear, and building roof membrane. It also includes repairs to the wet wells concrete and coating. The Headworks facility component includes the replacement of two mechanical screens with new multi-rake mechanical screens, updates to the associated electrical equipment, and installation of new sensors in the in the existing Parshall flume channels.
