Sailing Lake Access Road Improvements

This project is under jurisdiction of the California Safety of Dams (DSOD) and includes the retrofit of Shoreline Lake Dam (located at the western end of the City of Mountain View’s Shoreline Regional Park) to meet dam safety standard by strengthening the embankment and mitigating seepage issues.

A drained stability berm is being constructed at the downstream toe of the existing Shoreline Lake Dam, the existing dam crest is being raised by 3.5 feet, and riprap is being placed for slope protection. An aggregate base, followed by asphalt, is being installed on top of the heightened berm crest to maintain the existing 12-foot-wide access road and to accommodate future construction access to the Coast Casey Forebay north levee for the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project.

The site contains old land fill material and portions of the project site (including the staging area) include environmentally sensitive constraints and require a biologist on site.
